Introduction to High-Temperature Contact Angle Analyzer

The high temperature contact angle tester is an instrument used to measure the contact angle formed when a solid surface contacts a liquid under high temperature. The contact angle refers to the angle formed by a droplet on a solid surface, which is an important parameter to characterize the hydrophilicity or hydrophobicity of a solid surface. Under high temperature conditions, the properties of the material surface may change. Therefore, the measurement of the high temperature contact angle is of great significance for understanding the surface chemical and physical properties of the material at high temperature.

Principle of High-Temperature Contact Angle Analyzer

The working principle of the high temperature contact angle tester is based on the Young equation, which describes the equilibrium conditions on the boundary line of the solid surface, liquid and gas. The contact angle (θ) can be calculated by the following equation:

γSG =γSL+γLG cos(θ)

Wherein, γSG is the interfacial tension between the solid and the gas, γSL is the interfacial tension between the solid and the liquid, and γLG is the interfacial tension between the liquid and the gas (usually air).

Measurement process of High Temperature Contact Angle Tester

During the measurement process of high temperature contact angle tester, the sample is first placed on the heating table and heated to the required temperature. The morphology of the droplet on the sample surface is captured by the built-in high-resolution camera of the device. Then, the captured picture is analyzed by image analysis software to calculate the contact angle formed when the droplet contacts the solid surface.

By measuring the contact angle at different temperatures, the effect of temperature on the surface properties of the material can be studied. This type of meter is particularly suitable for studying materials science, surface chemistry, high temperature process engineering and other fields, and provides an important experimental tool for surface treatment of materials, coating development and understanding of surface physical and chemical properties at high temperatures.
